Student Support

The Niigata University Faculty of Law provides a various facilities and services to support our students. We ensure that our students can focus on their studies and their life on campus is comfortable.

Law Library possesses a variety of books and journals pertaining to law and politics, law reports and statutes at large. Students have access to not only a searchable database of every book and journal on campus, but also databases such as Lexis-Nexis. A reading room is also available as a place for study.

The Central Library is located across from the Faculty of Law building. It was renovated in 2013. In addition to vast quantities of books and magazines, there are various kinds of facilities, such as the Learning Commons; a self-study area with computers and audio-visual equipment, and “Library Hall” where conferences and symposiums can be held.

Faculty of Law houses a study hall called “Seisho Lounge,” which is a great place to study and socialize. There are vending machines selling soft drinks and snacks. Daily newspapers for reading are also available.

Academic Advisor and Student Tutor

Each international student will be assigned to be an academic advisor from the member of the Faculty. The advisor may be called upon for assistance in needing support for academic and personal matters. International students will also be assigned to a Japanese student tutor who will be there to help them adjust to life in Niigata and at the University when they first arrive.

The CO-OP shops in Niigata University offer a wide range of products and services to students. The Book Shop sells various kinds of books, textbooks, and magazines. The CO-OP Shop sells stationary, general merchandise, food, computers and clothing. The Travel Shop (Service Center) sells tickets for trains, buses, and flights.

The on-campus Lawson is used not only as a convenience store but as a multi-purpose space. A dining space and student lounge are attached to the store so that students can study while eating.
